I just realize how fortunate we are here in this great country of ours by looking at a picture from the island of Fogo ( means fire in portuguese); beautiful kids walking in the intense sun and a 90 degrees weather with no hat, no back pack and some of them didn't even had shoes.
I was born in this island and I know first hand how hot it gets in the sun. If you don't have a pair of decent sneakers and by walking three to four Km your feet will be on fire and without a hat, a baseball cap the sun hits you right in the middle of your head when you leave school to go back home and thinking they have to do it all over again the next day.
It brought tears to my eyes and I tought to myself: " I am disable at home despite of I can't do phisical work but I can write and mail letters and make phone calls so lets help these kids, there has to be someway of buying them a decent pair of sneakers, a cap, a back pack, pens and may be a inespenssive laptop to help them discover the world thru the magic of Internet.
I am starting this organzation to ask everybody to help with something, whatever you can give will help, things that we think doesn't have any value to us can really save a life out there.
Please lets make their voices heard.
